The waiting and anticipation over at last, Vin Garbutt came to town. At beautiful Boston Bay Wines he
stepped into the light and gave a taste of his craftsmanship, showing just how he became Folk Entertainer of
the Year in Britain, in 2001. Performing at only three venues in Australia this visit, Port Lincoln was privileged
to enjoy a world class performance.

The night started with local entertainer Margareth Holmes whose expert guitar and vocals gave a small
indication of "unknown" local talent and was thoroughly enjoyed by the "packed house".

Then Vin., constantly in motion, whether marking time to the heady trilling of the tin whistle or bending and
swaying to the skillful manipulation of that wonderful guitar, the audience was treated to Garbutt’s
distinctive full throated vocals. Renditions of "The Land of Three Rivers", "The Valley of Tees", "Darwin to
Dili", "Wings", "Filipino Maid" to name but a few, all introduced with the story behind the song and his
marvellous wit.

Travelling with Vin and ably supporting him, was long-time friend Pete Davies, a singer songwriter, also from
Teeside, on his first visit to Australia, who provided his own set of great songs. He was an added bonus to an
amazing night's entertainment for a "house full" crowd in a superb setting.

Vin Garbutt, Master Entertainer, should not be missed if he ever heads this way again (and it is to be hoped he
will return) So appreciated by fans Gail & Nick Dennison, who live in Canberra, that they endured delays due
to fog, missed flights and unexpected waiting in airports, to be in Port Lincoln just for this performance !
