| THE RIGBY-THOMPSON FAMILY BAND (1st trip to Port Lincoln and heading West !) James Rigby and Jane Thompson both sing in a group called “Blackwood, very popular in the Eastern states, & in the “Family Band, James plays guitar, fiddle, mandolin and Jane plays accordion, whistles and hand percussion. Their 3 daughters Maggie, 14, Elsie, 12, and Naomi, 9, all sing harmonies, and each plays ukelele. Jane says “In both bands we do a range of songs, from various continents, but mostly Australia, and increasingly, local sources, including original material. Songs addressing matters of the heart and issues of our time - some serious, some not so serious...James and I draw our repertoire from similar sources, singing some of the same songs, and then many others as well. A delightful family and a most enjoyable evening, dont miss any opportunity to hear the wonderful harmonies and witness the marvellous rapport of these talented performers. A CD is eagerly awaited! (Maggie we just loved your rendition of ~Somewhere Over the Rainbow~) |
