The Seafarer's Psalm

The Lord is my Captain
I shall want for none other
He maketh me to lay down on the deck
to enjoy the sea & sky
He steereth me amongst still waters
He restoreth my soul
He guideth me along the coast & into quiet bays

Yea, even though we go through the troughs of
fuming giant waves
I shall have no fear of swamping or sinking
For thou art with me
Your compass & your helm
They comfort me over uncharted reefs

Thou preparest a calm passage before me
In the presence of stormy seas & gale force winds
Thou coverest me with oil skins
My body stays warm & dry

Surely safe voyage & good fishing shall
follow me all the days of my life

And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Captain forever
