What’s Happening at the Uke Muster ?

Pick up a leaflet from the Visitor’s Information Centre (Adelaide Place, Port
Lincoln) or the House of Creative Learning (6, Park Terrace, Port Lincoln) - &
while you’re there buy a ticket to “The Ukulele Extravaganza” – only $15
The “Ukulele Extravaganza” (Concert) is happening at the Function Centre, at the
Port Lincoln Racecourse on the Saturday night (23rd July) – starting at 7.30pm.
& Say G’Day to the new bar-manager down there (he might look familiar !!) No
BYO drinks will be allowed – but you can bring some supper to share, if you
wish.
The line-up will feature members of the Adelaide Ukulele Appreciation Society,
including our main tutors for the day; musicians & singers from the House of
Creative Learning (with Lesley Gentilin) ; local uke players & friends from further
afield. Hopefully, also, some of the students from the day’s workshops will show
us what they’ve learnt ?
Ukulele Playing Workshops :-
During the day – Saturday (23rd) there will be a series of workshops, on
different aspects of Ukulele playing (specific topics to be announced later) – to
cover a range of ability levels – from the ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS – at 2pm - at
the Arteyrea workshops, cnr.  Mortlock Terrace / Blackman Place, Port Lincoln
(the Blue building !) This will be the one, if you’ve never touched a “uke” before –
but have a mind to give it a go !
Bring a ukulele, if you have one – preferably in GCEA tuning – or just come –
there will be some to borrow ! There will be just a ‘gold coin donation’ for this
workshop ! – So Come & Try !!
If you play a little – you are welcome to join in, too.
If you know at least 3 chords – we’ll call you “Improvers” !! & you can select
from all or any of the other sessions ($5 for 1 session - $10 for as many as you
can get to !!)
Provisional Times for these “Improver’s” workshops are as follows  (ALL on

Venue 1 :- Trinity Haven, Lutheran Campsite, 11Km from Tumby Bay :-
Trinity Haven - 9 Am - “Different Strum Patterns” (led by Phil Crowe)
Trinity Haven - 10 Am -“Blues” (led by Richard G.)
Trinity Haven - 11 Am -“Introduction to Fingerpicking” (led by Roger Gillison)

At 12 Midday – the Focus of the “Uke Muster” moves to Port Lincoln :-

Venue 2 :- Arteyrea Workshop, corner of Blackman Place / Mortlock Terrace :-
Arteyrea Workshop – 2pm – Beginner’s Workshop – ‘Come & Try !’ - some
spare ukes available   (led by Richard G. with other AUAS tutors)
Arteyrea Workshop – 3pm - “Uke Speed Dating” (all AUAS tutors)
Arteyrea Workshop – 4pm - “Playing Chords up the neck” (Rosalie Day)

Workshop times & levels will be flexible – If You Have a Particular Need, or
request – JUST ASK & we will try to accommodate you ! (beginners welcome to
join ANY other sessions – you’re bound to learn something !)
Accommodation is available (by prior reservation) at Trinity Haven Campsite,
near Tumby Bay – this will be $30 per night for 2 nights – Friday & Saturday – A
Friday night meal is included.
Breakfasts Saturday & Sunday will be available.
First come – Best Dressed ! - for rooms (Please Bring ALL your own bedding &
Warm Clothes !)

Alternative activities at Trinity Haven will include – Craft “Hands-on” workshop;
Photography (BYO Camera) & - Weather-permitting - Beach Walks &
Exploration for kids & adults – Times to be set, as required. Alternative (i.e. Non-
Uke !) Music session is also planned, according to demand.
No doubt Uke & other spontaneous music sessions will happen at Trinity Haven,
on Friday evening (Arrivals), Sunday morning (Farewell session ?)& anytime in
between !
Most of our guests from the Adelaide Ukulele Appreciation Society will be
staying at Trinity Haven – so that will be the place to be !!
