December Cellar Folk Club saw the introduction of the Gold
Stinky Award.
The Gold Stinky was a brilliant idea from the deep recesses
of the mind of Ross Challinger and in 2006 and 2007 they
were awarded for the Stinkiest Song at the Stinky Creek
Folk and Music festival. The first 'awards' had about 20
people present and a half dozen entries. The second was
a concert in it's own right with an amazing array of talent
vying for the sought after Gold Stinky.
Rather than see the Gold Stinky disappear (if there were no
more SC Festivals) we decided to present the award at the
December CFC. We hope the awards will become part of
Cellar Folk Club tradition. You will hear more of how to
nominate people for a Gold Stinky as the year progress- es
but instead of being for the Stinkiest Song it will be awarded
for someone's good work or someone's Faux Pas. I wish
there was space here to include all the nominations but
there's not, so if you'd like to read them I'll have them there
this Saturday. For 2009 there were 14 nominations for
good work and 8 for Faux Pas and the winner was ... ...
Drum Roll ... ... ... ...
Congratulations to Simon Richardson winner of the 2009
Gold Stinky award.
Simon received the award for his works of supererogation
(IE: going above and beyond the call of duty) For assist-
ance to the club as Club President, chairing the SC World
Food and Music Fair committee, helping first time MC’s with
setting up, his fundraising efforts (Garage Sale, Farm- ers
Market), pastoral care of members and cooking the BBQ's
etc, etc...
A very worthy recipient.
Paul
